Every playthrough deserves to be illuminated like a manuscript.
Doralume is a warm-lit gaming hall on Smith Street where restored arcade cabinets, a tournament-grade esports arena, a 400-title tabletop library and private VR bays sit beneath hand-painted gold flourishes. Open seven days, walk-ins welcome.

From a single Neo Geo to Collingwood’s illuminated hall
We started with one flickering cabinet in a Smith Street loft and a stubborn belief that games are worth preserving with the same care as an old manuscript. A decade on, the room has grown — but the ritual of gathering to play has not changed.
- 2016
The loft above the laneway
Founders Priya and Marcus restore a single Neo Geo MVS cabinet and run Friday tournaments for twelve friends in a Collingwood loft.
- 2019
The Smith Street doors open
Doralume takes over the old print bindery at 54 Smith Street — keeping the original oak shelving that now houses the tabletop library.
- 2022
The esports arena is built
Twelve tournament stations and a 120-seat viewing gallery are added, hosting the first Fitzroy Fightnight fighting-game circuit.
- 2025
The VR sanctum
Four acoustically treated VR bays open in the mezzanine, alongside the gilded ceiling mural painted by local artist Wren Okafor.
The bindery, before and after
Drag your eye across the room as it was and as it is now. We kept every load-bearing beam and most of the ink stains — they belong to the building’s story.

What our regulars say
I booked the esports arena for my son’s 16th and the staff ran a full 8-player Smash bracket for us. The gold ceiling had every parent taking photos.
The tabletop library is dangerous — I came in for one game of Catan and left three hours later having learned Root. The host knew every rule cold.
As a shift worker the midnight arcade hours are a gift. Freeplay CRTs that actually feel right, and a flat white from the bar that could hold its own on Gertrude Street.
